Read God's Word for Knowledge; Fuel for Faith, Leading to Obedience

Reading The Holy Bible brings an awareness of how God desires His children to live. (Those who do not belong to God are doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing!) Believers in Christ, let us live like God commands. (So glad you are wondering what we should be doing!) Our response to EVERYTHING is presented directly or in principle in The Holy Bible. Read it to be informed.

Because God's Spirit is fueled by His Word, our knowledge of Him should move us to boldly and confidently obey His commands. Not reading minimizes our knowledge of Him along with the outcome He desires; VICTORY over our circumstances! Let us maximize God's presence in this world by first reading His printed Word which fuels His Holy Spirit inside each believer. Then we must have faith--faith that leads to obedience.

That's exactly where God wants us--His followers--doing what we should be doing! Reading. Fueled. Obeying! "But the people who know their God will display strength and take action" (Daniel 11:32b NASB).

Take a moment to post a scripture where God is telling us to read His word. Please provide one (1) scripture per post. Doing so will give bloggers an opportunity to comment on 'that' particular verse. Thank you! ~ Verna

Below are two (2) facts from the following link, literacyprojectfoundation.org/community/statistics/:

  • "Approximately 50% of Americans read so poorly that they are unable to perform simple tasks such as reading prescription drug labels"
  • "Illiteracy has become such a serious problem in our country that 44 million adults are now unable to read a simple story to their children"

You may read other statistics at the above site. The information is startling!

Please respond to the Blog question: How does illiteracy impact a person's attainment of Biblical knowledge?

    Hi! I'm Verna Harvey.

I dropped out of high school before completing the 11th grade. Since that time, I've worked very hard and have obtained my GED and earned three college degrees! Life was extremely hard before earning my GED. With the attainment of each college degree, additional doors were opened.

I know that education will never solve all problems. However, educational attainment will assist in communicating and implementing personal and global changes. That's why I am passionate about assisting and encouraging those without a high school diploma or its equivalent, as well as students pursuing college degrees to, Finish What You Started. (By the way, this is the tentative title of the newest book I'm working hard to get published.)

EDUCATION is so important that I am asking you to join with me or another organization in helping to spur students towards educational success be it a GED or college degrees. America needs to change the current trajectory of illiteracy in our country because we are perishing.

YOU can help change the trajectory. Here's one way. Visit my contact page to start the process in scheduling a time for me to share my inspiring, yet challenging story with students, parents and/or leaders. At the venue, I will share points I've learned as a student, colleague, instructor, mother, and wife. That's nearly four decades--40 years--of knowledge! These points, if implemented, will help students to complete his/her studies. I know firsthand what a difference this knowledge made in my life. It can make a difference in someone else's life as well.

Hope to hear from you soon!
