“But seek ye first, the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)
Everyone, “THANK YOU” so very much for your kind offers and willingness to help as we encounter another bump in our lives. During our first journey over a similar bump, our list of needs was extremely long. And you know what? We asked for help and The Lord provided ALL our needs! This time, our greatest and really our only need—that is, what we must have as we go through—is prayer. YOU praying for us, mentioning our names before the throne of The Great Physician, is huge. It is so comforting to know that you will be praying with and for us. The most significant difference about this journey in comparison to our previous one is our relationship with God. It has deepened. Today, we are walking faithfully with God; not that we are perfect, but we are agreeing with Him in ALL He does! Perhaps it was troubling times that drove us to this faithful stance. Nevertheless, the journey, even with the bumps, is sweet! As you are led by God, you may send us a note on this blog. At some point, all comments, including offers of assistance, will be printed and kept in a book so that we will be continuously encouraged by your prayers and acts of kindness. By the way, all comments and offers of assistance will remain private—that is to say, not view-able by others. Now, for those who want to pray AND bless us with some of our desires, we have compiled a list. (As a new desire comes to mind, I will update the list. So check back periodically!) Shortly after March 18, we will sort through your offers in an effort to coordinate any meal delivery and other offers of assistance requiring guidance from us. Please, no meal train is needed. Because OUR needs are not substantial, would you please consider extending your offer of kindness to someone else who needs help? This way, your opportunity to minister and glorify God can still be fulfilled! Again, thank you so much for your concern and willingness to assist us. We love you very, very much! Len and Verna Food (Special diet) *Len loves fish! (I do not!!!) Baked, broiled, fried, he loves it all. Cooked fish for him on Friday and/or Saturday would be great! Welcomed side dishes are mashed potatoes with gravy, macaroni, and/or coleslaw. (No grainy or course foods such as rice, hush puppies, breads, etc. These have a tendency to cause additional throat problems.) *Me, I love all kinds of baked chicken! Oh yes, green salads are preferred. (Friday and/or Saturday to coordinate with Len's meals only, please.) Peach cobbler is our favorite dessert! Or, surprise us with yours! On Monday, a fruit tray, not basket, would be delightful! For our vehicle(s) *Car maintenance – General needs such as oil changes. Gift certificates for this service are appreciated! *Car washes (outside) – Occasional manual washes or gift certificates are appreciated. (When traveling, dead insects accumulate on the car and can damage the paint job. We just want to be good stewards!) *Car cleaning (inside) – Occasional manual cleaning or gift certificates are appreciated. Sometimes we eat in our car; you understand the rest, right? For our home *Grass maintenance – Maybe once every two weeks during the months of March and April. We have a riding mower if someone can just cut the half acre of grass for us! Edging would be over the top!

"Can two walk together, except they be agreed." (Amos 3:3)
Agreeing with God? Does it matter? And if it does matter, what follows agreeing? Today, 2/23, is Len's pre-op appointment. During breakfast, an outpouring of love was evident by his words to me: "I'm concerned about you. What will you be doing while I'm in surgery? Those 10-15 hours." Needless to say, my heart was touched. Just a few hours earlier during our separate Bible reading time, which is prior to our devotional time together, God actually gave me the answer to Len's question. Therefore, I was eager to share with him what the Lord had placed on my heart! One of the 'things' is this blog. Because we have so many family members and friends who are concerned about us, we will use this blog to provide information about Len's surgery and other related tidbits. There's no need for you to go searching anywhere else for information; you will have the most accurate and up-to-date information right here. So visit this site whenever it's convenient for you. (The American Brain Tumor Association's website contains basic information about several brain tumors, including the one Len has, an epidermoid. Visit the following link if you want to learn more, www.abta.org/brain-tumor-information/types-of-tumors/brain-cysts.html. Be sure to view the information for an epidermoid tumor/cyst.) By the way, agreeing with God does matter. It is essential! When we walk with Him, He prepares us for what is to come. Friends, He does that and so much more! The next time God speaks to you, keep the fellowship, obey! Living to give, Verna |
